Mohamed Raeid, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Libyan General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, received this morning, Sunday 13 June 2021, His Excellency the Italian ambassador to Libya, Giuseppe Buccino, at the Union’s headquarters.
During the meeting, the two parties discussed the outcomes of the visit of His Excellency Mr Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, and his accompanying delegation to Italy- particularly regarding the economic relations between the two countries-, in addition to several other issues including: implementing many projects in various fields, especially in the oil and gas sector, activating many suspended contracts and joint ventures including the Truck Company, implementing the contract to build the terminal at Tripoli International Airport, which will be completed in the next ten months, start building parts of the highway, and soliciting specialized companies.
Mr Buccino praised the great role played by the Libyan General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture to support and promote joint work, encourage Italian companies to return and facilitate the establishment of forums inside Libya during the coming period. He also stressed his willingness to facilitate the obtention of visas for Libyans, especially businessmen.
He expressed his great pleasure to visit the Union and his admiration for its permanent role in supporting the economic and commercial relations between the two countries. For his part, Mr Raeid expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Ambassador, praising his role in enhancing Libyan-Italian relations and stressing the importance of the cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting was attended by Dr Mohamed Wafa, International Relations Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Mr Faraj Dribel, Deputy Chairman of the Union, as well as Mr Anwar Bousitta, Head of the Libyan side at the Italian Chamber.
